2021 Write-up --I ended up removing this online for some time b/c I was self-conscious and thought it sounded ‘amateurish’ but honestly the whole lofi sound and lack of knowledge recording (of industry knowledge particularly) is part of the charm. My lack of knowledge allowed me to push the digital format and use recording techniques that were outside of the box. Reposting this project because i think its important to remember that not everything we do needs to be perfect (or up to industry standard) to be meaningful or valid.
Theres something to be said about using recording techniques intuitively. As much as some of these ideas / songs are flawed, i love how raw and human they are. Making feel-based music in an era where mixing and recording is very rigid and calculated is an act of rebellion, when industry largely defines how we should make the music that we love.
